The Czech Republic facing EU and the war
Peter Kopa, Prague, 9.4.2025
Speech by Zuzana Majerová, President of Trikolora (a right-wing political party), delivered at the conference “Starting points and the will to change the regime”, which took place on 4.4.2025 at the initiative of the Svatopluk association. It brings together people of different political tendencies, ages, interests and diverse professional and life experiences. It considers that the Czech Republic has gone astray and needs fixing. The initiators of this political platform are the political scientist Petr Drulák, the columnist Michal Semín and the economist Ilona Švihlíková. In a short time, hundreds of members have signed up and it seems that soon there will be thousands.
We must bear in mind the historical context of the Czech Republic, which was under communist rule until 1989. The speech took place in Prague.
We offer the speech translated from Czech. The subtitles are ours:
Introduction
If we want to get from point A to point B, we first have to clarify where both points are. We must first clarify where we are and what we want to change about it. The topic of our conference is about starting points and the will to change the political regime, as it is evident that there is discontent and a need for change in our country, in our society, in our political system. A significant part of our people undoubtedly see it this way. But let’s proceed methodically. In our case, this means that, first of all, we have to sort out the terminology used by politicians and journalists. Only then can we articulate where we want to go and how we can get there. So let’s get to work, it’s sometimes fun.
The European Union, the Leviathan
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I6WyIq7OnMg
The Czech Republic is part of the European Union, which is now a kind of confederation that looks more like a dystopian village. Judge for yourselves: The European Union behaves like a state, but it is not a state. It has a parliament, but it is not a real parliament. The European Union has a government, but it is not a normal government. It has something like a constitution, but it does not have a real constitution. The European Union has a flag, but it is not a flag. It has an anthem, but it is not an anthem.
And what is the most important thing lacking in the European Union? Democracy. And Brussels makes up for this lack of democracy with bureaucracy.
But the paradoxes don’t end there, but continue in the confusion of words. By far the most popular labels of the EU propagandists are the words pro-European and anti-European. The ‘eurohaters’ (those who hate Europe) have stolen the term ‘Europe’ and have demagogically identified it with the European Union. But this is nothing more than a big deception, it is a crime. Europe is not the same as the European Union and anti-European positions cannot be passed off as anti-European.
That is, of course, exactly what the EU propagandists do. Pro-EU political forces, which have been systematically and for a long time destroying traditional Europe, with its ancient Judeo-Christian roots, are labeled as pro-European, while all the opponents who defend the only correct form of European cooperation are branded as anti-European. This must be made very clear: there are 49 European countries, but only 26 EU member countries. The other 23 European countries are not in the EU.
The return to communist persecution

And while we’re on the subject of labeling, one more point. The most shameful label of recent years is to brand anyone who is not in favor of Ukraine as pro-Russian. I, like you, take a critical view of Kiev, but that does not make me pro-Russian at all. In any case, I am more pro-Russian because we all think with our heads.
We are told that the political system we live in in the European Union is a liberal democracy. But this democracy is liberal in the manner of the red Euro-union of yesteryear, which was neither liberal nor democratic. Rather, it resembles the so-called people’s democracy that older people like us still remember from socialist or communist times. Why? Because the EU regime is once again persecuting verbal crimes that express a different opinion.
People are once again being fired from their jobs for their political opinions, which leads to people speaking differently at home and outside. The old and infamous censorship is once again rife. But beware, it is not the same as that suffered under the Nazis or the Communists, it is much more sophisticated and, therefore, more insidious. No, we do not yet live in hard totalitarianism, but in a kind of soft totalitarianism.
But let’s continue. They say we are from the far right. I must admit that for a long time I have been wondering in vain what this concept really means. I know what it means to be right-wing, which is to prefer individual decisions to collectivism and personal freedom to state interventionism. In fact, it is a label whose sole purpose is to cause harm, because people don’t like extremes, whatever they may be.
Other words our adversaries like to use are systemic or anti-systemic. The political parties we represent claim to be anti-systemic, while they consider themselves systemic. The question, however, is what the system itself is. If it demands unconditional obedience to Brussels, they are probably right. But if we agree that the system we want to live in is democracy, real democracy, then the anti-system is completely reversed.
So, again, judge for yourself! What is democratic about the creation of all kinds of cordons sanitaires when their sole purpose and objective is to prevent democratically elected politicians from making decisions or taking up their posts? This is the reality today, and not only in the European Parliament. What is democratic about the fact that an increasingly common post-electoral scenario consists of those who lost the elections sidelining the winners?
Recently, what is democratic about the annulment of the first round of the presidential elections in Romania? What is democratic about the fact that 4 (in words, four!!!) pirate persons, or a 4-member parliamentary pirate club (clarification: it refers to the Pirate Party in Czechia, which is its official name) have a vice-president of the chamber by the will of the ruling coalition of Fiala (the Czech head of government), while the 20 deputies of the SPD do not have a vice-president? And so we could go on and on asking more questions.
Czech TV is wrong
The mainstream media, led by Czech public television, constitute a separate chapter in our present. Instead of reporting impartially, they are the mouthpiece of a political and ideological trend, that of so-called liberal democracy. But the world and politics are much more than that. Czech TV, however, accuses others of disinformation. We saw this during the COVID 19 pandemic and the same pattern of action is now repeating itself in relation to the war in Ukraine, which is doomed to absolute failure. https://thinktanklatam.org/la-pandemia-preparada-desde-1990/
Czech television has been transformed into a servile criminal organization. Why? Because it broadcasts shoddy, incomplete and misleading information. Because it is not an independent source of information, but an instrument of propaganda, acting as a mouthpiece for Brussels and for the fifth member of the ruling coalition. Czech television in its current state deserves to be abolished, not to have its taxes increased. And all of the above applies equally to Czech Radio.
The problem with Czech Television and Czech Radio is not what they broadcast, but what they don’t broadcast, what they select, what they distort. They only serve a part of the Czech public, and they are maintained with everyone’s money. And in this way they also bear a large part of the responsibility for the situation of our society.
So how do we get out of all this? Where do we want to go? What should our goal be? The new US Vice President, J.D. Vance, spoke very well on the subject at the recent Security Conference in Munich. We have to return the values of freedom, truth and democracy to the European continent. It is not necessary to applaud everything that Donald Trump and his people say or do, but we should imitate this revolution of common sense in the USA.
Conclusions by Susana Majerová
What does this mean in practice? We have to give words back their original meaning. We must restore democracy without adjectives. We must reject progressive phantasmagoria. We must cut funding to non-profit political organizations. We must stop mass illegal immigration and the Islamization of our continent. We must reject the climate religion of senseless decarbonization. We must repeal the Green Deal. We must stop militarization and curb senseless arms racing. And last but not least, we must restore true freedom of expression.
Democracy is a debate and no one should be excluded from it. Democracy should be free competition. A free competition of people, ideas and programs.
Thank you for listening. Thank you for helping us defend the normal world, the rule of law and civil liberties.
