Man is destined by his very nature for transcendence, that is, for an eternal future in God. We see this from the very dawn of the history of all peoples and throughout the world. The teachings of the Judeo-Christian revelation are the only consistent basis for a monotheistic religion that opens direct access to God for a personal relationship with him.
